MEP from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms/Renew Europe Group in the European Parliament - Atige Aliyeva-Veli participated in an online briefing organized by the Bureau of the European Parliament in Bulgaria. At the briefing, the current topics from the next plenary session and from the work in committees of MEPs were discussed.


In her brief, Atige Aliyeva-Veli emphasized the right to disconnect from the work environment, also called the "right to exclude". Aliyeva-Veli announced that on December 1, the Commission on Employment and Social Affairs, of which she is a member, adopted a Report with recommendations to the Commission regarding the right to disconnect from the working environment. The members of the "Renew Europe" group strongly support the right to disconnect from the working environment environment and ensuring a minimum level of protection for workers in the new digital work environment. At the moment, the right to break away from the work environment is not regulated at the EU level, but some member states already have national legislation in this direction, said Atige Aliyeva-Veli during an online briefing.


During the briefing, the MEP announced that more funds are planned under REACT-EU, which aims to help overcome the severe economic consequences caused by the pandemic. This, in turn, leads to an increase in financial resources under the "Hot Lunch" program and food for the most needy.


As the main priority of the EU, Aliyeva-Veli pointed out the acquisition of new modern digitalization skills by the elderly population, or in other words, the implementation of the so-called "Silver Economy" as a long-term measure against the aging of the population.


The topics related to the Motion for a Resolution on access for everyone to decent and affordable housing, BREXIT and the European Globalization Adjustment Fund 2021-2027 were also touched upon. workers to receive support, simplify and speed up mobilization procedures to mobilize funds faster and help develop essential digital skills for all to prepare workers for the future.
