Atidje Aliyeva-Veli proposes urgent, concrete and targeted measures to deal with the depopulation of rural areas

Urgent, concrete and targeted measures as part of a long-term strategy to revitalize Europe. The MEP from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms / "Renew Europe" Atige Aliyeva-Veli is working on these main goals, given the deepening of the problem of population aging and the depopulation of rural areas.
„In the European Parliament, our work continues on the draft report on the aging of the Old Continent - opportunities and challenges for post-2020 aging policy. Our aim in the Renew Europe group is to offer effective solutions on how best to deal with the aging population in Europe and ensure dignified and active lives for older people. At the same time, we must strive to develop a long-term strategy on how we can revive the continent," the Bulgarian MEP shared in a post on his personal Facebook profile.
Atige Aliyeva-Veli also described the main goals she is aiming for:
– Creating conditions for aging in good health;
– Strengthening ties between generations;
– Tackling age discrimination;
– Encouraging Member States to develop age-appropriate lifelong learning and work opportunities, as these are vital and necessary elements to ensure social and economic sustainability and personal well-being for all;
– Taking into account the specificities of different regions and developing diverse policies and solutions to better meet people's needs;
– Highlighting the importance of digital connectivity and upskilling of older people to avoid social exclusion;
– Greater coordination between Member States to guarantee patients' rights in cross-border healthcare and the availability and accessibility of quality and safe medicines;
– Using the potential of the so-called "silver economy".
„I will work and insist that these measures become part of the policies and strategies in Bulgaria and, above all, that they be implemented!", said Atidje Aliyeva-Veli.
