Atidje Aliyeva-Veli: Cooperation between employment services in the EU is key to the fight against unemployment

Ensuring well-functioning and efficient public employment services is a focus of another initiative to combat high levels of unemployment, which the European Parliament voted last night with a large majority. The MEP from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms / "Renew Europe" Atige Aliyeva-Veli was the rapporteur of the "Renew Europe" group. Posting on her personal social media account, she outlined measures to combat the high levels of unemployment facing many Europeans.
Atidje Aliyeva-Veli emphasized the key role of public employment services, which increase the opportunities for unemployed citizens to find a job.
„Now that many people have lost their jobs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and when we talk about the need for a fast, sustainable, "green" recovery and digitization, more than ever we need public employment services to provide the necessary support to citizens, opportunities for trainings, retraining, meetings with business representatives and, in general, to help the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights. For this reason, I believe that it was necessary to support the strengthening of cooperation between employment services in the Union," the Bulgarian MEP pointed out.
She added that by strengthening cooperation between its members, developing joint initiatives, exchanging best practices and promoting innovative job-finding initiatives, the network of employment services will make a valuable contribution to the implementation of Union policies in the field of employment. It will also help implement the principles enshrined in the European Pillar of Social Rights, contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the European Green Deal and continue to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
„We must use all means to modernize and strengthen public employment services with a view to increasing their capacity, quality of services and efficiency, so that we can ensure support for all vulnerable groups, better functioning and inclusion of labor markets. I believe that the continuation of the work of the network of services and its strengthening is essential and will prove to be extremely useful for achieving these goals," Atidje Aliyeva-Veli also said.
The informal agreement reached earlier this autumn with member states was adopted in plenary on Wednesday evening. In addition to strengthening the social aspects of the network of public employment services, its mandate is extended until 31 December 2027.
